Why did you choose NuCanoe?
A friend of mine has 3 different types of sit on top kayaks that he uses for fishing. I really had no experience fishing from them other than using kayaks for paddling. I was immediately impressed by the mobility and ease to get to fishing places that in the past kept from entering. I really liked his kayaks and was about to buy the same system but I felt that his yaks were a little more confining than I liked. In my mind I wanted something that the yak provided but also what a canoe could offer as well. It had to be versatile, stable, and open than a standard yak or a canoe. I then spent the whole summer researching fishing kayaks and canoes with both having good and bad points but my idea of a fishing system was not on the market (or so I thought). Then one day I was up at the Kayak Corral in Saline Michigan where I saw this yak that looked like a something between a yak, canoe and dory. I could not believe it, this is what I had in my mind but could not come up with an image of it. I immediately bought it and took it home. Don’t laugh but I put in my garage and loaded it with different configurations for fishing. My wife did laugh at me when she saw me sitting in my NuCanoe at 10 p.m. and stated that we would use it for more than fishing.

Freedom to Fish
There are so many great things that the NuCanoe offers and all the NuCanoe owners have hit upon them but the one thing that has really impressed is the availability of space within my NuCanoe. I have fished from other yaks and there has always a limiting factor when it came to space. I do not want my fishing to be determined by the layout of the boat but by how I want I determine it. I am in the military and one thing that we always do before a mission is to plan and configure how we are going to accomplish it. I do the same thing for my NuCanoe which is awesome. I can configure my NuCanoe based on the type of fishing trip I am taking from going on a float trip on the Au Sable River, Michigan with camping gear and fly rod to heading out on Lake Erie fishing for walleye. Also, once on the water I do not have to stop to access cargo hatches or twist my body to reach for something I can easily spin on my bass seat or stand up and move forward to grab something. This has saved me valuable fishing time because I do not have to ground my NuCanoe so that I access a hatch or grab something with losing my balance and falling in. Bottom line, the NuCanoe does not dictate or limit me on how I am going to fish.
