Well, …..I kinda made the tail a little thick on this one, but this was my first attempt at painting on a boat paddle. It has gotten some positive remarks however, and I’m sending the wife back to Bass Pro to buy a half dozen of these little paddles. ” class=”spSmiley” /> Bonus: they are American made and have a nice logo on the back saying so! Anyway, thought you guys might enjoy seeing my version of a striper chasing a blueback…
Doing an art show in April virtually on the banks of Lake Lanier so hoping some of these striper paddles will sell. ” class=”spSmiley” /> ( CUZ I NEED MOAR KAYAK FISHING STUFF! ” class=”spSmiley” /> )ack-yakMemberMarch 25, 2014 at 6:52 pmPost count: 3609
Very nice, Very nice indeed my Friend!! Hopefully you’ll be able to hook-up with a tackle store, other than BPS, where you may be able shave the prices down on your paddles, etc. What you did really looks nice, keep up your creating, makes the crummy weather go by just a little faster!
Maybe you could do a fisherman catching a Bass from his yak?

thanks ack yak. I may take a few down to the big local tackle shop later on this year after I get good at working on the wood. They are pre-finished and the surface is kinda slick. Will take some getting used to – that’s for sure. <img src="https://www.nucanoe.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif" alt="” class=”spSmiley” />NukeCanoeMemberMarch 25, 2014 at 9:47 pmPost count: 2302

My guess is we better get ’em before he gets so “Famous” that we won’t be able to afford ’em!! “What say you Owl Jones?”
Your wife might have to pick-up more than 6 like ya planned!!
Back into the cave. Thanks for rolling that boulder back. OJ…Dave KMemberMarch 26, 2014 at 12:02 amPost count: 349

I appreciate the compliments, fellas. Sometimes I think it looks pretty good and then sometimes I step back and shake my head. <img src="https://www.nucanoe.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif" alt="” class=”spSmiley” /> LOLz
Well, you might be surprised by this but I get $120 for the paddles. Most of my paintings on canvas go for $80 to $400 depending on size. ( Most of my paintings on canvas are folk art, not fish – although I do paint fish from time to time)
I do digital art and prints, too. Those cost alot less than original work. I also do some fish paintings on birch wood panels that turn out pretty cool. I’ve got a website, but I don’t think many folks visit it. I sell 90% of my work through my Facebook page – although my art has been in two retail stores and is in two galleries right now. Go figure. <img src="https://www.nucanoe.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif" alt="” class=”spSmiley” />
Here’s the website – it has a few photos of stuff I’ve painted in the last year or so…
There is a page that says “Paintings” but it’s a little wonky right now and I just haven’t had time to go back into it and fix that page. If you just hang out on the page I linked to above, it’ll slideshow through some photos and I think there are some fish in there.
PS – I’ve just been handed something from the Home Office in Suches, GA………they’re saying that we’ve just implemented a “NuCanoe Family Discount” on art. LOL If anyone here in the forums ever wants something, I can give you a discount on it. Right now it’s more hobby than sustenance, so I can jiggle the prices a bit on some things. <img src="https://www.nucanoe.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif" alt="” class=”spSmiley” />NorthwoodMemberMarch 26, 2014 at 9:09 pmPost count: 224
Wow! really like your art Owl… especially the one of the fish closup with the eye. Nice work!Owl JonesMemberMarch 27, 2014 at 3:42 amPost count: 1027
Thanks Northwood. I appreciate that! I was an art major in college, but didn’t finish. Dropped out to get a “job.” Got more than I bargained for for 25 years and then the housing market crashed. I was kinda forced back into this – although I do enjoy it of course.
